What is a QR Code?
QR(Quick Response) Codes are a type of two-dimensional
barcode that can be read using dedicated QR reading devices and smart phones(using QR code scanner/reader
apps), that refers directly to text, emails, websites, phone numbers and more.
You may have even got to this site by scanning a QR code.
Who
invented the QR Code?
Originally
it was designed by Denso-Wave - a subsidiary of the Toyota Group in 1994 to track
parts in the vehicle manufacturing industry. In India Ford was the first
company to use QR code for advertising which was used to promote Ford Figo.
How
is a QR Code different from a normal 1D UPC barcode?
In
the QR codes the information is stored in both directions vertically or horizontally
and can be scanned vertically or horizontally but in case of barcode information
is stored vertically only and can be scanned vertically.
While a standard 1D Barcode stores
up to 30 numbers and a QR Barcode can store up to 7,089. It is this huge amount
of data that enables links to such things as videos, Facebook pages or a links
of other web pages.

can I scan a QR Code?
If you have a Smartphone like an
iPhone, Android or Blackberry then there a number of different QR code scanner

scanner/reader” on Google or ply store for android. QR code reader/scanner can
read and decode data from a QR code. The most of them are completely free, and all you have to do once you
install one is to use your phone's camera to scan the QR code, which will then
automatically load the encoded data for you.
